Police say a shortage of witnesses has left them unconvinced that the Newfoundland boys accused of chasing a young moose to exhaustion in Deer Lake, N.L., on Monday actually did it.
I'm confused. Witnesses recanted their story? These are kids not mobsters. If the witnesses can't get their stories straight they should be charged for impeeding a criminal investigation.
the boys beat a young moose with a stick, there is only one answer. BEAT the boys with a stick, someone should be looking at their parents to maybe try to control them or beat them with a stick, i am very "EYE FOR AN EYE" these will be the people that grow up being in trouble with the law, nip it in the bud now.

According to the original story all 3 of these kids are known to police already. My surprise comes from the fact that witnesses changed their stories
they must have very understanding parents, and the "witnesses" must know the parents, and want to keep quite about it, nothing you can do, unless YOU want to go to jail.

Based on what I read in the report, nobody recanted anything.... just that police said their various claims didn't add up or contradicted one another.
This is a wonderful alibi though:
.... the father of one of the boys has offered an unusual alibi for them: he told CBC News in Corner Brook that the boys were busy vandalizing a church in Deer Lake when the moose was attacked.

Cuz that's so much better

Well in that case:
*grabs pogo stick, straps a bunch of fireworks to his arse, straps some styrofoam wings on his back and bounces off towards the McDonald Bridge*
