NATO's new secretary-general is broaching what is apparently the unthinkable in Canadian politics today, urging Ottawa to keep combat troops in Afghanistan past a planned exit date of 2011.

I thought Afghanistan was the properly justified war. Am I wrong?

Get us out of there. This is NOT a war against terrorism. It's a vendetta.
Where was the US when British civilians were being killed by PIRA bombs?
I'll tell you where. Sympathizing with, supporting, arming and providing safe haven to, the terrorists of the PIRA. A group killing civilians of a supposed US ally.
Ohhh, but when it happens to the US, everybody should bend over to kiss their ass to join them in their righteous quest. Anyone harboring terrorists is an enemy of the US, what a joke.
At least Britian showed herself to be a TRUE ally.
What's amazing is the US government can't seem to go 20 years without tripping over it's own history and landing squarely on its face.

Afghanistan is as just as it was when we entered it back in 2002.
UN secretary-general Anders Fogh Rasmussen can ask all he likes but since the Canadian parliament decided, for the first time since this fight began, our minds are made up. I'm damned sure that won't stop the opposition from calling anything after 2011 a betrayal but then, they were the oms who put us here in the first place.

It is, however, most Canadians are basically tired of mainland Europe of being lazy, cowardly fucks (Germany, France, Italy, among others) while we face the brunt of casualties, while being forced to modernize our equipment.

Sorry, I don't have an issue with Americans, just some of the incredible boneheads that have run the country over the 30-40 years.

The PIRA is the Provisional Irish Republican Army. Supported and partially armed by the US until Reagan finally put a stop to it.

    Thanks for the clarification.

US foreign policy has been nothing short of EVIL since the 50's and the last thing in world Canada should be doing is buying into their propaganda tripe. The US goes to war, rids countries of democratically elected governments, and steals countries resources, for the sole benefit of their military industrial complex, their good buddy bankers, and their US globalist puppet masters.

Thats right because both Saddam and the Taliban were elected into power

The stealing of resources is going good to huh? The media is obviously reporting all that, or wait, they are part of the great US global puppet show too. Oil is now at an all time low? So is Gold? And I guess the Military Machine of the US isn't in the beginning phases of cut back to major programs, because after all they have all these resources that they have "stole" from other governments. Oh yes and the recession it isn't real either right? Because after all the banks have all these resources that the government stole for them banked and saved up. So all the banks across the US that have gone under in the past year are just a facade of the "Evil Empire of the United States". I tell you the only thing that has gone up in real value the last 8 years is goddamn tin foil.

Wasn't he the guy who gave us the War on Drugs? :?

You know I keep hearing from people about how bad the Constitution of Iraq is. So I took the time and did some reading up on it and here is what I came up with: show me the right to 100% of the profits with nothing for the Iraqi people. Man that freedom of elections, religion, from prosecution, to free health care, and lets not forget not paying taxes if your poor IS PURE EVIL! Damn right you don't get your information from the media you get it from all those radio transmissions beamed into your head every time you take off your tin foil hat to shower or sleep.

    US foreign policy caters
to the the wealthy "elite" of their country and no one else.
For proof, look no further than the $900 billion dollar bailout of the corporate "elite". It's ok for American's to lose their homes, but god forbid a banker should
    lose out despite inept management.

So the bailout that the government gave to their own US companies, to help stop their economy from degrading worse then it is already at, is a direct reflection on their foreign policy? Your logic makes no sense.

You'd make a lot more friends in the world by bombing them with bread and books.
Not with people that skin people alive and leave them in the streets, or blind them with cigarettes in front of their families, murder their fathers in front of their children, kidnap children to intimdate the parents.

Yep, which I have no problem with either. I've had too many friends die from that crap.

Nixon, actually. But yeah, not like anybody since Nixon really tried to stop it.

You know, outside of the whole Watergate thing, Nixon wasn't too bad of a President. He did reestablish relations with China, after all

Yeah, that's true. I do like to rag on him, and everyone only seems to remember Watergate but he actually did a pretty decent job. Certainly a better job than was done the first 8 years of this century
