They do seem to tazer a lot, but I guess its better than shooting them.

How many people live in the US and Canada combined? How often do you hear about it? I think its not that bad...

Obviously this man wasn't tasered as an alternative to shooting him, sound like the cops just got lazy. The problem with tasers is that they were brought in as an alternative to using deadly force with a sidearm but cops instead use them whenever they don't feel like chasing somebody or using physical force. Tasers should only be used when the only alternative is using lethal force.

Brenda:Tell that to the family of the Polish man the RCMP tasered to death simply cuz he couldn't speak English. There's no such thing as non-lethal weapon. The term itself is an oxy-moron. And while it's certainly a better alternative to putting a round or 3 into someone, I think too many cops like playing with their new toy. They can use it just like a gun to feel like big bad cowboys.

I guess he wasn't giving them the straight story.

They tasered him to stop him from hitting a car with his tractor? :|

Never been hit with one of those, but I would think that could cause you to lose control of a tractor??

He's 76, has a heart condition and survived.
I'm guessing that the shock probably did more good than bad and he'll start chasing young women around town.

It was not simply because he didn't speak English, and I take it you don't know my stance on that one

Fact is I can fathom any reasonable excuse for tasering a 76 year old man driving in a parade for not obeying orders (perhaps he has a hearing problem). While I agree that tasers are preferred to shooting people (in most cases, some they should just pop and save society the burden of their company) I think that as a whole they need to be retrained on their use and aware that they are not suitable replacements for actually dealing with people on a face to face level.

You know, I hadn't thought of that. I would love to see a pic of this "tractor" too, btw. Probably a riding lawn mower.

A lot of the cops in the small rural towns in the states seem as if they are mentally stunted at about the grade 7 level....tazering a 76 year old man on a tractor in a parade would seem correct to a fat lazy power hungry elected billybob cop................................
