A new El Niņo has begun. The sporadic Pacific Ocean warming, which can disrupt weather patterns across the world, is intensifying, say meteorologists.

This could mean bad news for the Vancouver Olympics. However if you live on the eastern slopes of the Rockies and don't ski you could be rejoicing! I remember in 97 and 98 there was no winter weather until New Years Day in S Alberta.

El Nino's and La Nina's are manmade, right? Global warming, right?

Nature takes it course... Let it...

Some suspect that they have been happening for at least the last 10 000 years.

What's ridiculous, the fact that it's a naturally occuring event or that we should and change the patterns. El Nino and its effects has been noted for at least the last 300 years, long before humanity was able to have any impact on the global climate. Look up the science, rather than parrotting some pseudo science published by enviro nuts with an agenda.

    Hey look at this everybody:

^ Look! In the last hundred years or so, the global temps have been increasing.... OooOooOOooooo.... Booo Hooo... it must be global warming.... OooOoooOoooo.... It must be Humans and our evil pollution..... OOooOOoOoooooo.... We're killing our poor poor planet.

Sure seems that way when you just focus on the last 100 years or so.... but:

^ Glacier Ice Core Temperatures prove that Global Warming is a pile of garbage.

The temps going up and down is nothing new and is a typical pattern of Earth's cycle.

In fact, it was hotter during the Roman Empire's rule then it is today.

Last I checked, the Roman Empire didn't have gas guzzling vehicles or pump for oil like we do today.

Sure.... if you're one of those Globalwarmongers who only focus just on the industrial age till today, you may seem to make sense, but if you actually use the Earth's data and scientific data beyond such a narrow perspective.... you'd see that Global Warming is a pile of fear mongering Bullsh*t.

I remember growing up as a kid in the 80's and I was scared sh*tless because of all the fearmongering at the time.

At the time, people said that by 1996-97, New York and Nova Scotia would be under several metres of ocean because the ice caps would have melted, food shortages would occur, and WWIII would start because people would be looking for land, food and fresh water.

    Guess what happened?

    Not a damn thing.

Then Gore comes along with his BS movie and then everybody starts on with the same crap... yet to cover their asses this time, they push their predictions to 30-50 years from now.... but the exact same predictions, that the ice caps would melt, that New York and the Maritimes would be under several metres of ocean, food shortages, lack of fresh water.... blah blah blah.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... ain't gonna happen.

And then last year, they start saying that Global Warming is going to be stalled because of "Global Cooling"

Where in the hell was this in their previous predictions?

It didn't exist, because their predictions are a pile of crap, that's where.

"Oh, but Prax, shouldn't we be protecting our environment and reduce our pollution?"

Sure, fill your boots.... we should reduce our polluting ways for our own health and the health of other creatures and plants around us in regards to our own health in the long run.

But don't give me this Global Warming crap and don't shove this stuff down my throat that I need to have 18 damn different bins to put my garbage in, get my house loaded up with Murcury Light Bulbs, get taxed up the ass for carbon this or that.

It's all one big money grab.

"Oh but Prax, it's a well known fact that with increased temps, we risk having bigger and worse hurricanes and typhons."

Yeah, we're supposed to, duh. Hurricanes feed off of warm temps in the waters. The warmer they are, the less hurricanes there are, but the one's that remain are much larger.

    Anybody remember Katrina or Juan?

    Pretty big huh?

Yet have we had anything like them since?

Nope.... I don't think Nova Scotia has been hit by any hurricanes since Juan... same with Katrina or most other places.

    Why?

Because they are Nature's air conditioner.... they help cool the planet.

Humans in their narrow views think Hurricanes are horrible, distructive things that should be somehow stopped.

They're only horrible to humans because they're mess up our own selfish plans and make us have to clean up after the mess left behind, yet they're wonderful for the environment and keeping the planet regulated properly.... they're supposed to happen.

With colder waters, you get more frequent hurricanes, but they're not as powerful.

Yet idiot Gore and his followers think they're something that should be stopped and that they're going to just keep getting bigger and bigger, and more powerful.

This is an impossibility based on the environment's design.

If anything, this is "Climate Change" ~ A change that has been occuring since the dawn of Earth's existence.

And it'd be nice if people could clue into the reality and stop getting sucked into this Globalwarmongering.

They pulled all of this in the 80's and it failed.... now they're trying to do it again.

What's going to happen in 50 years when they're all proven wrong?

Nothing, because all those people who predicted this would be long dead and have already sucked all the money they can out of this racket..... and then some other person will come along to predict it all over again in another 50-100 years.

"But Prax, all those scientists in the UN concluded that Global Warming exists."

This isn't absolute, and there were still many more scientists who were left out of the debate who disagreed. There were still plenty in the UN meeting that didn't agree and it was all based on a majority basis.... not Absolute, not completely explained without question.

And when someone questions this global warming crap, they's quickly attacked and finger pointed as people funded or in support for the oil companies or something more stupid.

Like religious wind bags who can't accept challenges to their ideas, these "scientists" act the exact same way when someone questions their beliefs in their Global Warming...... just take David Suzuki.

I just wish other people would get a damn clue and look at this and use their own brains, rather then acting like sheep and believe what other's tell them, just because they got a fancy title in front of their name.

^ Here's another example from Ice Core Data.

Frig, I don't know why people buy into this GW crap.... People can't even predict the weather for Next Wednesday, how the hell does anybody expect them to predict what's going to happen in 50 years??? :?

Different flows likely created similar situations at different times. Our oceans haven't always had the same form and the Idce Age interfered with currents by removing alot of water from the oceans. El Nino and La Nina are completely naturally occuring weather events based on ocean currents. Marine vulcanism, changes in salinity..all of this will change things.

This graph you posted is interesting Prax.

It's a GISS graph. You can tell, because 2005 is higher than 1998. You won't see that on any other temperature set. What that means is it's a graph some alarmist has posted somewhere to make a point. In fact if you look at those green marks you can see him doing just that.

Even so there's stuff they can't hide. The scale is just 10ths of a degree. The actual rise there for the 20th century is only about .7 of a degree. If you looked at this over a larger, geologic time-scale of millions of years, you wouldn't even see that tiny spike.

The alarmist wants you take a quick glance at that magnified scale, and see a steady rise upward, but if you look at it carefully you'll see thirty year trends. 1880ish to 1910ish - level. 1910ish to 1940ish - up. 1940ish to 1970ish - down. 1970ish to 2000ish - up. Were still waiting for the next one, but at this point it looks like it's going down.

The twentieth century is not really a single upward trend. It's two upward 30 year trends, and one downward 30 year trend.

In the Pacific where El Nino's and La Ninas occur there's a larger ocean influence. It's called the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). It occurs in 30ish year trends. They line up well with the upward, and downward 30ish year trends we see in global temperature. CO2 rise does not. It especially does not line up with the leveling then lowering of temperatures we're currently seeing in the first decade of the 21 century.

When the PDO is positive (warming influence) you'll see more, and stronger El Ninos. Shorter and weaker La Ninas. When the PDO is negative you'll see more and stronger La Ninas, shorter and weaker El Ninos. Currently we've begun a negative PDO.

Here's something interesting, I think, that's rarely mentioned. If the 30 year trends of the PDO remain true to form those 30 year trends of the 21st century will be opposite what we saw in the 20th in that there will be 2 downward trends in global temperatures, and one up, rather than the 2 up and 1 down we saw in the 20th.

That's as far as I'm going to rebut. It's all been rebutted an infinite amount before, yet the Deniers continue in their ignorance. So carry on.
