If he does call the election he better change his opinions about stimulus and EI. The one stimulus was enough, and while I don't like the EI change, it is already too low as it is.
At the same time, I'm still of the opinion that Flaherty fucked up horribly when estimating what the actual deficit would be. The bailout and people loosing jobs were things I thought would have been no-brainers to factor in, even if it meant saying, "the deficit is currently expected to be X, but the unpredictable nature of job losses could mean it could increase another 10-15 billion."
I guess I need another issue to decide who I'm going to vote for over.
He's in a very unusual position. First of all we have the official opposition proping up the government. Secondly he is within striking distance of a minority government with the support of the NDP's Layton. Thirdly the economy is just turning around and the deficit is deep. Fourthly he has to show he stands for something, has the balls to call an election on a Ignatieff platform. Personnaly I think he can wait awhile.
Force a fall election?? He's gonna need a way better platform than "Harper sucks". Oh wait, he needs a platform period!! He won't be calling one, he hasn't even decided how he's going to "save " Canada yet. I have a great suggestion for him, LEAVE AGAIN!!!

Layton probably stands a better chance of being the next PM then Iggy does.....
Iggys' about on par with Dion... the only thing that makes him better then Dion is that I can understand what he's saying.
But can anybody imagine having Layton leading the country?

"PublicAnimalNo9" said Oh God no, I'd rather have Mulroney back, and I despise him something fierce.
Well as I know most would shudder to hear it, I found Layton was the only person who actually talked about a platform and detailed plans, as well as didn't run around questions in the last election.
Gilles Duceppe also did well when it came to addressing questions and explaining his platform.
All Dion and Harper did was bitch and moan back and forth at each other for the most part and didn't answer anything directly.
After my personal experience with the NDP in Ontario (ie Bob Rae's bullshit) I wouldn't trust a Dipper if he was hooked up to a polygraph machine. Albeit you are correct, Layton and Duceppe certainly appeared to be the more serious of the candidates in the last election but I just can't bring myself to vote NDP.
The Liberal Leader did not say whether he would move a non-confidence motion when Parliament reconvenes in September, but he said it was “not an unreasonable extrapolation.”
If Iggy wants to be attract voters he'll have to talk without using double negatives and words like "extrapolation". When the House recommences on September 14th watch Question Period (usually 2:15-3:00pm, Eastern). When he asks a question he sounds like a Harvard professor scolding a group of undergraduates.
And don't believe him for one minute. The Liberals have no intention of forcing an election. They will find some excuse for keeping Harper in power.
Wonder how many seats the Liberals will lose this time.

While the economy is recovering.
