Cool, I want to see the Queen this time around.

I just purchased a print on the 2850 Royal Train Arriving Lake Louise Station 1939 when the Queen and her father toured Canada, when we were still a colony.

    Canada's history is very cool...

The Spring of 1939 brought the first ever visit to Canada by a reigning British monarch. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth toured the country by special train, travelling from east to west on Canadian Pacific lines, returning east on Canadian National tracks. A sizeable crowd lines the platform of Lake Louise Station as Hudson 2850 pulls in on May 28, 1939.

The locomotive and consist have been painted royal blue in honour of the King and Queen. Subsequent to this highly successful tour the CPR was granted the right to designate Hudson class locomotives as Royal Hudsons.

Mount Temple looms through the morning mist on the far right.
