Rookie MPs say Parliament needs to change

at last someone inside is saying it , they look like a bunch of fuckling retards, banging their desks and yelling

The Reform party was saying this a decade ago but the Grits were in charge so it wasn't a story.

If the Reform Party was saying it a decade ago, they sure weren't including themselves in those comments. The people doing everything they can to make Parliament dysfunctional today are the Reform Party members of yesterday.

Chretien was a total bully and the Libs and their pet press sucked it up like icecream. But now suddenly, now it's a problem.

Read the book. Although it references Chretien, it's a great book on the dictitorial powers that the PMO has.

I'm not saying that the other parties share no part of the blame for the current state of our government, only that those senior politicians who criticise the way it is should look in the mirror before pointing fingers.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about the clean-cut and polite Chretien era. Like the day Doug Young called Deb Grey a pig to her face, the Speaker sat there and did nothing, and the whole of the Liberal caucus sat there laughing.

Yup, clearly a long-forgotten era of pure civility and rainbow-pooping niceness. Where did all the good times go?

Yep, Jean Chretien was really lacking in the tact department a lot of the time. But I think that was just him being himself, and not a party platform to make Parliament dysfunctional.

You're not going to find it at Chapters. In fact, there are quite a lot of political documents that neither you nor I will ever get to see, yet they do exist.

If they had it, don't you think they'd have flaunted it all over by now?

Parliament shouldn't change, Society should. They are, after all, just regular Citizens like you and me. If we act stupid during Political Debate, what makes you think they won't?

No. The PMO has too much power and since all MPs are beholden to him, they won't cross the floor or vote according to the wishes of their riding, lest they get run our of that one horse town called Ottawa.
Canadians need to pay more attention and hold these people accountable but that's still only every 4 years.

Who is "they"? Personally, I would be embarassed to have written such a book, if I had done so, especially if it had been leaked to the press.
