NEW YORK (AP) — About 800 Canada geese around New York City’s two airports have been trapped and euthanized, part of an effort to reduce the type of bird strike that led to a jetliner landing in the Hudson River last winter.

Those birds are dangerous around an airport. I just hope they are using them to feed people.

Isn't that why we have sirens and falcons to scare them away?

Mmmmmm, freshly shot Canada Goose breast, thinly sliced, marinated in olive oil and garlic, lightly sautéed, served with asparagus tips and new potatoes..... :) Damn, all this talk about moose, salmon and geese is starting to make me hungry again.

Didn't one of our MP's get in trouble for suggesting that?

Why did they get in trouble and who was that rr? I sort of remember there being an issue sometime ago but do not recall the details.

If the geese must be culled then I see nothing wrong with turning the meat over to a shelter to cook up for their clients.

I dont think so, considering one of them could take down a 747 with 300 people on board.

Pilot Chesley Sullenberger landed the plane in the river that lies between Manhattan and New Jersey. All 155 aboard survived.

If we could change safely to amazingly....

Now, if we could cull another 250,000 Canada geese then we may be on our way to controlling their population....

Many public areas are a health hazard due to the extreme amount of shit those birds drop.

A quick look around the net shows that the idea of actually using the geese for food is accepted. In the case of New York, they plan to gass the birds and I don't know if they can be eaten after that. It may deped on what they gass them with though.
It only makes sence to use them for something.

That would be a terrible waste if the meat would end up unsafe for human consumption.

Good point - why not make the most of it?
