there is still a feeling of unease in Germany about both national pride and military strength... this generation is still brought up in the "Tatervolk" mentality (translates as the deed-folk or people who did the deed...) and must tread lightly due to the country's Nazi past. I read while living over there that they will not send troops for UN peacekeeping in the Israel/Palestine beause "there might be a situation where they would have to aim their rifles at Israelis and that is unacceptable"
Of course the troops are a reflection of the government and the "will of the people" but their pathetic allies in our fight against the taliban.
I completely agree... it should not be mainly the USA, Australia, Great Britain and Canada putting their soldiers in harm's way... 100% agreed there
