I don't know why so many people are down on Sid so much. I don't recall Gretzky or Lemieux getting this treatment. I don't think even Lindros did despite him being a prima donna from day one what with refusing to play for the Nordiques.
Mario was treated pretty shabbily by the press for supposed snubs, which usually were translation issues. I remember him comparing his treatment to Gretzky (who was always treated like royalty), and bitching about not getting the Hart one year (after he won the Art Ross), and so on.
With Mario, I think it was a case of him being French Canadian more than anything else.
His English wasn't all that great when he first started in the NHL, and some things he said (or didn't respond to) might have seemed arrogant or snobbish, but it was more his lack of skill in English, than any real attitude I think.
I think the NHL piles shitloads of responsibility on young superstars (Gretzky, Lemieux, and now Crosby), and at that tender age, they make mistakes. Hell, it happens to everyone.
Kinda surprised about the source tho - Draper never really struck me as the "sour grapes" kinda guy
Coming from a guy that was on the same team as Chris Chelios in 2007, who ran into the dressing room after losing to the Ducks because he was too 'emotional' and wanted privacy, that's a bit much.. Draper comes off as a sore loser (and from a video I saw, Lidstrom and Draper waited about 25 seconds before going to the dressing room. I guess that's an eternity )
boys boys i'm pretty sure you can imagine my thoughts on this subject.
crosby's a bitch we all know that, this is just another mark against him in my book. he can say it was unintentional all he wants but it just goes to show what shitty character he has.
They're a bunch of kids that just realized a life's dream. Maybe the Wings should have come back after a few minutes for a handshake after the Pens'd had time to enjoy the moment? This is a non-story.
"Regina" said Funny how no one mentioned the Wings fans booing after they lost........but a timely hand shake has become important to the media..........and Draper.
but the wings were booed in pitsburgh the year before so they cancle each other out in my books...
Lemmy is right, they should have come back or waited longer to shake hands, I watched the whole thingt on tv and saw no slight on Crosby's end (Note that I'm not a fan of his, or the Wings either for that matter). As far as tha fans booing, I have no respect for that, I would say it's appropriate to boo during the game or even at the end of a regular season game. But to boo the winner of the cup when they clearly won it well, that's just poor losing and typical of hockey fans period (of which I'm sure I've been guilty of during 04')

Going to have to make a point of watching game 6 from last year on the NHL channel and see how long the Wings celebrated before shaking hands.
