Greece would not accept a short loan of the Parthenon Marbles from the British Museum as it would "legalise their snatching", the Culture Minister said.
I tried adding a picture, but oh well, anyway. I thought this was very interesting, partially due to the refusal, but more importantly, the fact that the museum believes to own these pieces, when really they were taken from Greece, for sure without permission.
If I were Greece I would borrow the pieces and then refuse to give them back. Just send a postcard with, "Now you know how it feels" written on the back.

It was basically just bringing up an old conflict out of nothing, because there was no offer of an actual loan - it was just a reaction by the Greek Culture Minister to a general comment on the radio that the British Museum lends things out.
