Maybe he wants to go out west where the friends, family and fans of Dan Snyder won't jeer him every time he touches the puck. Heatley is a piece of shit that belongs in prison.
It could be a busy couple of weeks for Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini leading up to the draft. With news breaking today that Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley has asked for a trade out of Ottawa, it's easy to draw a straight line between the two clubs given that the Oilers need scoring help and Ottawa needs mobility on their blueline. Heatley's $7.5M per year cap hit wouldn't be an issue if one of the Oilers top 3 defensemen went back the other way as part of the deal. It's not groundbreaking, but I can confirm the Oilers are interested in acquiring this player and will contact Ottawa to see if a deal can be had.
There are two areas of concern being reiterated today about Dany Heatley: his poor physical fitness and questions about his committment. I'm told that the Oilers recognize these concerns but feel that he's simply too good of a player to pass up a chance at acquiring. The early belief is that the foundation of the package would require a top 4 defenseman and a top 6 forward.
And then he goes in this direction.
Multiple sources within the Oilers organization tell me that it's a widely known fact in NHL circles that the New York Islanders are promoting the belief that they are going to draft Swedish defenseman Victor Hedman with the first overall pick. I can confirm that the Tampa Bay Lightning, drafting 2nd overall, are also gunning to draft Hedman and would be, at the very least, more likely to trade their pick should Hedman go 1st overall to New York. I'm told that the Lightning would be looking for, at least primarily, help on the blueline in exchange for the 2nd overall selection. I'm led to believe that the Oilers have expressed interest in acquiring the pick with their sights set on drafting OHL standout John Tavares.
He may also have soured on new Senators coach Cory Clouston after losing ice time in both even-strength and power-play situations.
That is exactly why people in Ottawa yesterday weren't impressed with Heatley. Thinking he is bigger than the game/team is not something that fans are usually very happy about.
Healtey, who was given the A at the beginning of the season, floated during most games. It's not like he's a great skater, he doesn't forecheck or backcheck and he came to depend heavily on others to get him the puck. He never uses his body and is afraid of going in the corners. He does have a wicked shot and he knows where to position himself, but really, that's about it.
The fact that he didn't buy into Clouston's philosophy, STRONG work ethic, pisses me off. And unfortunately, he has a say to where he's going so that makes it even harder for Murray and puts my team in an awkward situation. I hope he's not going to act like a jerk.
It is rumoured that they are still trying to find a compromise, but at this point, because it has been made public and people are not happy with him, I think it's much better that he is traded. He's not getting any sympathy from Sens fans, that's for sure
"WDHIII" said Well Edmonton IS known for their "project players", McTavish started em down that road but Tavares is TOTALLY outta left field. Thought the scouts still had him going #1 and Tampa was DROOLING that they may get a chance at him
Yeah he still is, but he refused to do most of the testing at the evaluation combine. Maybe that has something to do with it.
He wants to go to a Western Conference team... Mmm, who do I want from Calgary?
And did the Flyers sign Emery? I know there were rumours, but I haven't seen anything concrete.
Their sitting at just under $44M. If they traded Jarret Stoll, they'd have enough room to sign both Heatley and Lecavalier.
That is if Jack Johnson's agent isn't kidding when he says their seriously looking at an offer to go play in Russia next year.
Not sure who the Sens would want back. Maybe a 3 way deal, anybody want Shawn Horcoff and Dustin Penner?
Dion?
Not another player with a celebrity girlfriend.
You should have seen the media when Carrie Underwood and Hilary Duff were in the stands. It was quite awful
I wouldn't mind Nash, but Heatley has a NMC so he might hold the Sens hostage as to where he wants to go. I'm guessing Columbus is NOT on his list
And Columbus is closer than you think. A good player or two and they're no longer a walk-over.

Yeah once its outta the bag like this best thing to do is cut the cord.
pretty sums up the mood in Ottawa for the last 2 days. It is pretty much a sure thing that Heatley won't be missed
He refused? I heard that he was injured and couldnt do the upper body.
You must of heard a more kinder, gentler report.
Maybe refused is a bit harsh, did he ever produce a Dr's note? I heard they just had to take his word that he was injured, and was suspect at best.
