They are spending a tonne of money on the Combat systems and almost nothing on the propulsion systems, if the ship cant move it cant fight!!!

I'd rather see new destroyers laid down first.

We need destroyers and supply ships, but we also need to maintain our ships for the future. The money is not available for the first two options even though shipyards could emply thousands.

This is a good plan. We've proven that with regular and timely upgrades we can make ships effective for years, after the rich countries like the US would have put them against the wall.

Anybody remember the DELEX programs for the Destroyers? But, like someone said, you've also got to upgrade your propulsion systems or the weapons and operational equipment upgrades aren't worth shite.

So, we'll wait and see if someone running the program comes to their senses. If not we may end up with a combat effective unit that can't sail.
