A Montreal man got his wife to the Royal Victoria hospital in lots of time for her to have her baby, but he says he still had to deliver it himself because there was no medical staff around to help.
When my first son was born, it was 3 weeks pre-mature and I was away fishing. When my 2nd son was born, I was caught on the highway behind a pile-up. When my daughter was born out of town for a funeral. I'd trade places with the dude in this story HANDS DOWN! What a special thing to be able to share with your child.
This guy shouldn't complain. He and his wife went through the best birth you can have except for the fact that they were in a hospital.
***My son was born in a hospital in a birthing room (like a hotel room). The doctor was a friend and neighbor who asked us how we wanted it done. I essentially took the doctor's place and she guided me along.
"Robair" said We will deliver in the hospital (if all goes according to plan) but the midwife will deliver the baby.
I will not be getting THAT involved if I can help it.
I'm scared to even pick a newborn up, I'm afraid I'll break it.
NO! Kick that fear out RIGHT NOW!!! Get in there and just pick up the little buggar and breathe it in. I totally envy that you get to do what I've done 3 times, but won't get to do again: hold your child for the 1st time.
We're using a midwife. They are covered, no extra coin out of our pockets. Don't know why more people don't take advantage of them.
We went to the Womans Hospital at HSC. It was pretty good, but they do have their own distinct "ideology" there if you know what I mean.
And they need more comfortable chairs.

So did I. I had them both at home. For as far as giving birth can be perfect, it was perfect
(congrats
