Two young men who had never been in trouble with the law say they were beaten and Tasered as many as 24 times by York cops after innocently ending up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
oops I wonder if a mod could change the category from business to law and order.... anyway, I doubt the cops just tased the crap outta these guys just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time...
Police during a police drug raid are in great danger and their use of non-lethal force when resistance is encountered is not unreasonable. The question really is what were these guys doing there in the first place?
I suspect there is something more to it than just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Continuous use. I’m not sure but most cops in Canada are trained with “2 shots don’t work, select different use of force option": I really can’t see somebody tasering a person 24 times. Really, what is the point?
Lots of people don't trust the police and this is an example why not. Internal review will lack evidence and find nothing wrong.
I was in an aggitated state from stress one time and called a passer-byer cop "incompetent". That's all I did. I woke up to a restraining order "dangerous to society" six days later in the hospital. Internal review couldn't make out they didn't have a cause to arrest me. Scared my wife pretty good.
When York Region got their tasers about 3 years ago, every cop in Newmarket tasered a guy that day, just to try them out. Some of 'em likely deserved it, but still...

I was told I was "dangerous to society" and not allowed to leave the hospital per the police. I went in July 1, 1991 and woke up July 6. I was in an aggitated state but didn't do anything violent. Wife has nothing to do with it.

You got proof to back that bollocks up lemmy?
Yes. It came from the lips of a man who's word I would never question; a man I'd trust with my life.
