When I came to Montreal last week, and I started shopping with my grandmother, I was totally dumbstruck by the fact that you needed to pay for these stupid, plastic bags. I think my jaw dropped at the sheer stupidity of it, especially since they don't offer paper anymore. At least give us that fucking option
Or bring your own bag. Planning ahead is key.
They won't be able to enforce this, bunch of idiots.
Another money grab under the guise the save mother earth movemnet.
Better than a money grab for the destroy the planet movement.
No other LCBO I have been to has a "no plastic bags" policy anywhere in Canada yet. I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen anything similar in their 'local' LCBO branches.
Really though, plastic bags are fucked up, non-bio degradable.
LCBO near my downtown Toronto condo does not distribute plastic bags at all. Paper only, I asked them why, they said environmental concerns of local residents.

They have the same policy at all LCBO outlets in Ottawa

I'm talking about the industries and the people who run them that are causing a massive amount of pollution and who will find any way to spin their product to continue making a profit.

I don't live here. I don't have the bags, and I'm still used to Windsor, which, amongst all of its problems, at least isn't stupid enough to pay for bags.
If they want bio degradable ones, I really don't mind, but what happened to customer service? Why not just let them give them out free?
Each time I go, if I forget to ask for paper bags, they put my things in plastic bags. Why ? I always want paper bags. That's much more handy. They take more stuff and are easier to handle.
My father has a grocery and I worked there a lot when I was young. Plastic bags were an exception.
Oh and btw commerderkai, I've never seen that here that you have to pay for plastic bags ?
