Laval police say they handcuffed a woman for not holding an escalator handrail because she refused to heed their warnings. The incident -- and the resulting fine -- has sparked criticism of the officers for being too aggressive.
$100 fine for not holding the handrail on an escalator??? First I've ever heard of this. Is this a law only in Laval or all of Quebec or all of Canada? Do they have signage stating that failure to comply with holding on will result in a fine?

I'd be surprised if it's a law, sounds more like a regulation. I didn't think you could be fined and handcuffed for breaking a regulation. Glad they've solved all the more serious crime in Quebec.
Wow! I glad I live where I do!
So are the rest of us....

I was looking to the perfect comeback to this and you top anything I could think of.
I bow to your superior intellect Hyack.

Wow, free country eh? Under an NDP government the cops would have helped he lady get up the stairs and find her change.
And the clouds will be made in marshmallows

Would it rain those mini ones then?
In the police world it's called "The attitude test."
She failed.
