Travellers may be in for a summer of discontent as a federal plan to arm border guards is igniting anger throughout Mohawk communities and has already led to protests this month that temporarily closed the cross-border bridge at Cornwall, Ont.
Whats the big issue here? Armed border guards? Not like they are going to be going around shooting their guns in the air and pointing them at random locals.... Just seems like a reason to get more publicity.

Maybe they're worried about all the smuggling they are doing. Someone might put a stop to it.
I can just visualize the situation where the border guards with their 9mm popguns become a major threat to the "warriors" with their AK-47s and boatloads of stolen cigarettes.
I'm not going to take any of this too seriously, just as I don't with anything else regarding our indiginous population too seriously. Going by Chauchee's occasional utterances around here there's not much reason to take any of them too seriously at all.
Their complaint is legitimate though. Instead of the "white eyes" asking for permission to do this they just once again feel justified in doing what they wish. Not only perpetually stupid but arrogant besides. Would you feel encroached upon if I stood outside your door with a 9mm popgun, without asking?

Yah we saw that transpire at WoundedKnee and we just can't learn from the history of the US.
There hasn't been a repeat of Wounded Knee in the US since then.

What's your point? I think someone suggested we relive Wounded Knee only here in Canada. Was I mistaken?
No. Someone suggested that the law be applied equally in all parts of Canada, no exceptions, no special enclaves.

Damn straight Canada is justified in arming border guards on Canadian soil.
Don't like it? Tough.
