OTTAWA - The unexpected addition of almost 36,000 new jobs to the Canadian economy in April, a surging dollar and rising markets, might mean the worst of the recession is past us

    I doubt its behind us but still if it is than what a lousy recession. Barely felt a bump regarding it.

    That's the time average time for a recession. It will still be the second longest tho.

    The real economists told it. Now, we will see in the next year or two if all the "stimulus" packages and the huge debt contracted will bring the economy in a stagflation.

    Just like the Finance Minister and B of C predicted in January... and people had no faith in the government during the recession.

    They did the numbers on ctv last night and the jump is from people starting their own bussiness.

    Not new jobs created anywhere,people got tired of waiting and went their own way.
    So thats why the numbers jumped.

    I don't think we've seen the worst of it either. Mind you I'm a bit of a pessimist but even if there is more to come it's hardly the "Great Depression Part II" that was being reported on the news.

    We've seen far more positive indicators in the last month or two than negative. Any positives are more than what we had a few months ago.
