Canada will "vigorously" defend its sealing industry in the wake of a European ban on seal products — but not at the expense of free trade talks, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Wednesday.

Call me unCanadian but I really can't see any reason to support this industry any more. Definately not to kow-tow to these Euro-wimps but simply because it's an anomoly. There's very few Canadians who support trophy hunting or trapping for fur yet this seemes to have some charmed life because it's tradition. Wailing was tradition too.. So was Eastern cod fishing too.

I find it "silly" for Harper to be pushing for free trade with the EU when they are pulling shit like this.
