Study says Upper Great Lakes not losing much water

The Americans are stealing our water!

While they may not be "stealing" the water. There is much evidence to suggest that dredging in the St Clair river has increased flows from Michigan/Huron.
One study indicates that dredging has removed an impervious clay layer and exposed a pervious sand layer and the water is actuallt draining out the bottom. Much like pulling the plug out of a sink.
I live on Lake Huron and water levels are drastically low.They seem to be coming back, but it is a very slow process and cause for concern.

Some people have nothing better to do than discuss the waterlevel around the boathouse at the cottage. Of course they want the government to dam up St. Clair river at a cost of billions.

Why are barges no longer hitting ground in the Mississippi river.
Where did all this water sudenly come from.
20 years ago they were freaking and wanting to divert water from the great lakes. They said there was plenty to spare up there

20 years ago, they were calling that man would not see the year 2000, because of the next ice-age. Then the global warming came.
What did the lakes look like 200 years ago? 2000 years ago?

We can't control nature. It is time we learned that, and stop getting upset over things we can't do anything about.

Yup, the Mississippi needs more water, being barely a creek by itself.

Why not block up the St-Laurence?
That should fill up the lakes fast enough.
It would make for a quicker commute to get to Montreal too.

I don't recall anybody saying we would be in an ice age by 2000...interesting.

While the lakes are recovering, they were at the lowest level ever recorded 2 years ago.
If you actually saw just how low they were, you may understand where i'm coming from.
If there was not a concern, the money would have never been spent on the study, just because a bunch of georgian bay cottagers were complaining

How would blocking the Stlawrence fill Huron and Superior. Water flows downhill, not up.
What we could do, is close the dam and power plants and locks at lake Superior to fill it up. All you guys down river could cry your own

It's left wing stuff. All I have to do to figure that out is ask my wife what she thinks. She thinks bottle water is lowering the water table. And so does Justin Trudeau.
