The NRA is gonna love this..

And it does not address the real issue of gun control in the US.

Is there anything that does make the NRA happy? I think they've missed the part in the 2nd Amendment where it says something about a "well regulated militia".

Didn't it used to be the lefties who railed against the "new world order"?
Is the "new world order" now acceptable because a democrat is president?

Given the sort of extemist lunacy that's engulfed the right wing in the US lately, my advice to American liberals and moderates would be to make their own use of the 2nd Amendment and to start arming themselves for protection from the wackier of their fellow citizens. That, and to keep in mind what sort of people were behind the second largest terrorist atrocity in American history, i.e. the Oklahoma City bombing. They did it once before and they're fully willing and capable of doing it again.

Given the current atmosphere of crazy down in the US that's been stoked up from every freakshow ranging from FOX News to Stormfront, and by every breed of lunatic in-between, it's just a matter of time before it happens again.

I wouldn't call the NRA Extremist, but it is about as stupid an Organization as PETA. It rejects any type of Regulation whether it makes sense or not.

They view any move as the start of a slipery slope.
Considering the actions of both our governments, they've yet to be proven wrong.

Their one of the most successful private lobby groups in the US so I'm guessing they will survive another foreigner not liking them.

Because their views on gun control seem to fit the facts that it doesn't work? I never realize being right made you nutty. Hmm.

Oh shit they are protesting. The horror. What's next? They might write angry letters to newspapers and political leaders!

my advice to American liberals and moderates would be to make their own use of the 2nd Amendment and to start arming themselves for protection from the wackier of their fellow citizens.

Which would make the current left wing in America become one of the most hypocritical ever if they took your advice. Either way, many of the more left wing (Blue States/cities) are adamantly pro gun control, and they would probably be fined for trying to smuggle a weapon bought in a red state into a blue city/state.

That, and to keep in mind what sort of people were behind the second largest terrorist atrocity in American history, i.e. the Oklahoma City bombing. They did it once before and they're fully willing and capable of doing it again.

Two crazed anti-government extremists? There was no giant conspiracy, it was the acts of two highly disturbed men and not some giant right wing conspiracy. Plus, why are you ignoring the many left wing terrorist organizations that have plagued the US? The Weather Underground, or the ELF, for a more modern example?

The mood of the right wing in the United States is a watered down, but more vocal version of how the left was after Bush was elected in 2000. They're bitter for losing. Americans hate losing, no matter what the issue is, but after a while, they get over it, and move on. Those protests in the United States are nothing but a steam valve, and why not let them have it? It's rare for right wing Americans to organize like that, probably due to their more suburban and middle class makeup, and not the younger student based makeup of left wing protests.
