When the Canadian government placed a $5-billion order for 28 Sikorsky S-92s in 2004, the model was touted as “the safest helicopter in the world,” with an advanced design certified to tough safety standards that made it ideal for risky offshore operation

    The difference is this is a civilian version.

    I'm sure the military version we're buying will be far more robust (probably why it's been delayed so long), like the EH-101 is compared to the Cormorant, which has had its ups and downs in SAR of late. At least that's what some CF members have said (Inverted if I recall correctly).

    Still,if the gearbox cant run dry then shes an accident waiting to happen.

    I don't know many gearboxes with those tolerances that can run dry.
