An American comic slated to play in Edmonton has been dumped after slagging Canadian soldiers on a Fox News talk show.
Doug Benson was set to appear at The Comic Strip in West Edmonton Mall April 2 to 5, according to his Myspace page.
If he had come, I would have gone and put up posters in Lancaster Park announcing his visit. I'm sure some people there might have wanted to go see his show! He'd probably have been lucky to make it to his cab afterwards...
I guess being a comedian he know "timing is everything". Then he knows seeing his show an hour after the news of four more caskets on their way home is really bad timing
Although I agree their comedy borders on pedestrian, they really didn't say anything truly offensive.
Among other things, they made fun of Andrew Leslie's name, Mounties' red jackets and horses, the Canadian Military, and the fact we are taking an "operational pause".
It was poorly timed for certain, and to air jokes like this just as we are repatriating four Brothers in Arms is shameful and in poor taste. I've lost friends in Afghanistan, and I've done my time there. I can't imagine the grief family and loved ones endure, and in no way am I taking anything away from them, but the comments made by these ass-tards from Fox were simply a poorly thought out attempt at humour. I lump this in with the "talking to Americans" bit we are all so familiar with.
their fat assed stone dumb ignorant hick-why-dont-you-read-the-newspaper-you-idiot

Ya I have a feeling the only people who showed up would have done so to heckle and boo him.
or shove a hockey stick up his ass.
That's like claiming you're an actor because you did 5 min. comercial on the shopping channel.
Would have been mawled by some pretty angry Canadians.

Just my two cents.
