I am very disapointed at the US Administration for doing this. This should have gone to MacKay and Canada.

It's crass politics to shoot down a Canadians appointment simply because he's from the wrong party.
McKay won't get the post because he is from the wrong country. The USA will always lead the military end of NATO, and the Euro's won't allow anyone other than themselves to lead the political side.
Canada will end up getting left out in the cold, kinda burns especially when "johnny come back lately" member France will likely have more influential NATO postings than faithful member Canada.

We've done far more than most other nations when it's come to NATO and I'm tired of pandering to these weak European nations who are more worried about their own political necks than their own back yards.
