Vancouver awarded MLS expansion team

Vancouver became the newest home of Major League Soccer on Wednesday as the league awarded the city an expansion franchise to begin play in 2011.

This is great news. The MLs is slowly getting better as a professional league. I just might have to get season tickets for this.

This is good news. Let's just hope they keep the Whitecaps name though.

Great news for sports fans in Vancouver. The Whitecaps have always had a great fan base and will attract even more fans with being in a bigger stadium. Too bad the original idea of the waterfront stadium didn't go through but BC Place will do just fine. Yet another reason to go drink beer and cheer!

The Whitecaps name must remain! Otherwise we'll need a new theme song.

It is a shame about the stadium. The only problem with using BC place for the pitch is that the lines for football will be there and that always annoys me when I see it on TV.
