    Zero Provincial tax on purchases.

    Health care premiums are now "REALLY" Free for ever Albertan.

    The Provice paid off their defict.

    I think Alberta is economically still the best place to live in Canada, or for that fact North America.

    Economically... maybe.

    BC still has you beat hands down on other factors. :P

    One of the best things about Alberta is it's right next to B.C. :)

    A Bust in Alberta would be considered a Boom in Quebec, -.5 % in an overheated economy is called relief, maybe now you will be able to get some service when you walk into a retail outlet.

    Naw, I doubt it. Something tells me that people who get laid off $60,000 a year jobs aren't going to go work for $12 an hour at Tim Horton's. They'll just collect UI, as it will pay them more (not much but still more) than getting a service industry job. A lot of Tim Horton's, restuarants, gas stations and convenience stores in Edmonton still have Help Wanted signs up.

    Isn't it amazing how little ole Saskatchewan is doing so well. We are a province that is not so reliant on energy resources. We just keep plugging along as usual and let the cash and people come on in. BC has the highest cost of living damn near anywhere and Alberta will be bankrupt if it stays the course. Go figure. Just a bunch of stubblejumpers are doing better than the oil barons.

    not reliant on energy resources? better check your facts. BTW guess where all those non-energy reliant companies have head offices?

    house prices in Saskatchewan were rising faster than Alberta the last few years.

    Saskatchewan will be back to suckin slew water and handouts PDQ.

    have they paid off their debt yet?

    Judging by the looks of the reclamation you guys havent done around Estevan and the big open pit coal mines,this might be a good time for you fine folks to show us oil barons how you get your resources out and forgo the clean up after their gone.

    Wow..Touched a nerve...Let's see what good ole SK has to offer...One of the largest deposits of potash in the world. Second largest deposits of uranium in the world. Not bad. We are not dependant on oil. That's all I meant..

    Saskatchewan had approximately 27,800 wells listed as being capable of oil production at the end of 2000 (approximately 20,300 active wells).

    The oil industry represents a major economic force in this province as evidenced by the following statistics for 2000:

    revenues from crude oil royalties and taxes and sales of petroleum leases is estimated to be $795 million for the 2000/2001 fiscal year which represents approximately ten per cent of government revenues;

    2,401 oil wells were drilled and oilfield investment was approximately $1.4 billion;
    direct and indirect employment associated with Saskatchewan's oil industry (excluding refining, upgrading, and natural gas activity) accounted for approximately 19,000 person years.

    Quite right. Saskatchewan has made a mess of some of its resource base. Estevan and the near-by areas are a mess. Some of the forest areas to the north are a joke. Time to clean up.

    :lol:
    Not dependant on oil, then he lists two other natural resources extracted from the ground.

    Ag sector in SK has a lot to do with the current situation. Farmers actually have some spending money due to reasonable prices. That hasn't happened before in my lifetime.
