Gang violence in Canada linked to Mexico drug wars

OTTAWA - The increase in gang violence on the streets of Vancouver and other Canadian cities has direct ties to the grisly drug-cartel wars that have terrorized Mexico and some American border towns, say Canadian and U.S. police.

I don't understand... how does Mexican drug wars link all the way to Canada? Unless they are refering to all the Mexican gangs that are in America expanding there drug territory into Canada?

Our customs agents and Homeland security must not be doing their jobs then if that gets past almost a whole continent into Canada.

All the cocaine that enters Canada goes through Mexico.
