Can't believe the power people put on Obama, first black president ever and people treat him like a god.
"I think President Obama might be able to move Canadian public opinion on this; at least he could right now."
Yes, all Canadians bow and would quickly change there personal oppinions on the war because Obama talked to them.
People are against the war for personal reasons, usually because they lost somebody there or know somebody who is deployed there. Simply having the first black U.S. president to talk to them will not change there oppinion on anything.
However I am all for staying in Afghanistan, while I am taking longer to get school done and get ready to join the CF. I would love to get some time in Afghanistan while I am still able to.
Also the longer we stay and secure Afghanistan and train and make sure everything runs smoothly. The better they will be when we do exit.
I disagree I think McKay and Harper should stick to their guns, these battlegroups are wearing out the CF and we need to focus on several things on the homefront.
If you really want to go overseas after 2010 your best bet is to join the engineers, the EROC team will most likely still be running at full steam.
Any lefty who starts lobbying to stay after the 2011 deadline better erase all their earlier demands that we leave or I'll find them and smack them in the face with them. The first black president, woman president or another republican isn't going to make our parliament decision any less binding.
