What bothers me the most is that Quebec wants more money yet they get the lions share of equalization, more than every other province combined. If the cupboard is bare evryone goes without except quebec

Some premiers fail to realize that in a global recession the pie that gets split is a lot smaller. Ontario is a have not province and the price of oil means Alberta's contribution will drop to less than half of what it was before. So where does Ottawa come up with the money to meet the demands of Quebec or PEI?

The have not provinces will still get transfer payments they just will not be as big as before. It may mean they have to cut back on expensive social programs in order to live within their means. In a recession everyone tightens their belt.
