Anyone know what these are and what they are meant to replace? I'm trying to find something with more detail but no dice so far.

He said they were for operations in Canada, I assume they won't be used for any combat roles outside the country. Perhaps transportation like more military trucks. Stuff to help in Natural Disasters or Riots, etc. I would assume mostly transport though. That is just my guess.

I do however believe fully they won't be replacing anything existant.

thats roughly 210K per vehicle, so what they are getting are probably going to be in the same wieght class as the ML

Interesting. But what commercial vehicle is there out there that can replace the ML? This is just a bit weird to me because it almost sounds like they know what vehicle they want but are saying.

And on another note, if they are replacing it in Canada, what is going to replace it outside of Canada or are they just going to use the reserve's MLs in the Regs?

They do have an ML replacement now, I will see if I can get a picture of it today. The Cab looks like something you would see on a flat bed tow truck, but with a tarped back end like on a ML. They are very limited though I think they only have 7 or 8 on base.

Ok, didnt know that. So that means that the ML is on its way out all together I take it both in the Regs and Reserves?

Kinda too bad, I always like the ML.

You've never had to drive one during winter while it was snowing or freezing rain. Or on a icy highway, I was almost killed when our ML rolled over on HWY 7 up to Moncton.

Im sure the Reserves will still have em though

Chilliwack BTn(Schools Support Section) used Ford troop carrying vehicles 20 years ago. They were OK for a run out to the ranges, but couldn't handle exercises that well. They couldn't get enough ML's to support the increased numbers going through.

I was happy when the ML's came in. No more old Deuce and a half.

Here are the ML replacements I was talking about, I had only thought the base had a few, but apparently arty has a full fleet of them.

Thanks for the pic Sapper. Seems like an alright vehicle for dom ops.

Just found this link that provides more details and information on the ML replacement for foreign operations.

Just make sure they're not made in Canada. We have way too many auto sector jobs.
