I agree with the people part, but as for being prepared for snow, up island we are and have effective snow removal plans in place, that are actually quite good.
We also have alot of people from other parts of Canada who seem to think that because they lived through snow in Ont or Sask they can drive like they did back home when it snowed.
The fact is, that the snow here isn't the powder they're used to, it's heavy wet and extremely slippery which makes driving in it totally different than anwhere else in Canada.
Unfortunately it usually takes a couple of accidents for these types of people (locals also) to figure this out.

The speed limit is meant for optimal conditions.
I think the speed limits are completely unreasonable.
It's 100 on all Manitoba highways (it may be 110 on the Trans Canada, I'm not sure if that happened yet).
In ideal conditions I drive 110. I drive 95 if its say at night in an area where there is deer, and 100-105 on a pretty good night.
It's pathetic. You will be passed by dozens of vehicles in a road trip if you drive the speed limit, so I do 110.

Sounds like the kids of snow we usually get here. Freaking nightmare when it happens. Every redneck in a 4x4 thinks they are invencable. They are usually the ones first in the ditch.

It is a nightmare, but every year you see the motor vehiclely challenged out their in their cars with summer tires trying to figure out WhyTF they aren't going anywhere when the step on the gas.
Unfortunately I do have to take exception to your redneck statement. Not all of us 4X4 owning rednecks drive like we think we're invicible, it's usually the young dumb and full of cum ones that drive like that.
Hell out here we even get soccer moms in their escalades driving like that, so it's not what you are, it's how stupid you are that determines your driving abilities.
I figure even if I am a redneck at least I can say I survived nigh on 60 years because I got my stupids out and over with in my 20's.

Man that pisses me off! Inexperienced idiot driving in shitty weather with your kids after putting a few back!
And it's the bloody kids that get the worst of it. If she's guilty, I hope she suffers horribly for it!
