Blackcomb gondola tower partially collapses, stranding passengers

At least five people were trapped in a gondola cabin suspended in mid-air Tuesday afternoon after a gondola tower partially collapsed at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, B.C., police said.

good thing i wasn't up there skiing today! Although it might have been kinda fun. I bet everyone on the gondola will get free pases or something.

But i don`t understand why this can happen at such a large resort. And this same thing happened like 10 years ago on the Whistler Gondola.
