Too funny - Wednesday morning they had a foot of fresh snow on the ground - you can imagine - collisons all over de place - cars in ditches - traffic clogged on its way to Ottawa aka land o' plenty for Qweebeckers - all in all a total disaster and not a winter tire for sale all the way to Greenland. . . .
I picked up an almost new set mounted on rims for 300 bucks off KIJIJI, after using them a few times in the snow I realized I don't really need them . 600 bucks anyone
It should be mandatory any place outside of the lower mainland of BC. If you can't afford to put a safe car on the road, don't.
Even here where we might only get three or four days of snow on the road, tire safety should be mandatory. I bought the most expensive set of Michelin all season with the specific requirement that they be above average in water and have an aggressive enough tread to get me around in a light snowfall. Of course here, being on the road when ANY snow falls is risking your life. Piss poor snow clearance, idiots in 4x4s that have no idea that they can’t stop any better than anyone else, and a huge population that has little or no experience driving in snow.

I've been driving for over 18 years with no winter tires. I've never had one accident in my life. Why should I be forced to buy winter tires? In my hands my car is perfectly safe.

the set I just bought is the first set I've ever owned. Knowing the difference I won't be buying them for my other vehicle.

Until it isn't.
That's right. All it takes is a fraction of a second.
That said, I haven't noticed all that much difference in traction between winter and all-season tires.
I have but the tires I tires I replaced were a bit more of a highway tire than a all terrain (I'm talking truck tires). That and I also had mine studded which seem to make a big difference when I'm stopping.
I have All terrains...but I would like to see a mandatory removal of all the morons on the roads in the lower mainland....they dont use even all seasons, straight up summers and if it even drops one flake there is mass panic...
$250.00 each.
Kenmore blamed this on Harper not too long ago.
