A man who killed two people after driving his pick-up into their house while drunk has filed a lawsuit claiming that he, too, was a victim in the incident.

What a tool. He should rot in prison.

Exactly what one would expect in a liberal dominated society.

    It's always someone else's fault. . . .

The sad part about this, is that this clown will likely win his lawsuit, which says loads about taking responsibility for ones own actions and the state of our judicial system.

You folks missed the really stupid part:

Bertrand is suing the District of Summerland for not having a barricade in place,.

He's suing the District because they didn't have a barricade in place that would have stopped a drunken Bertrand from driving into the house, killing those 2 people.

That's akin to the child pleading mercy because he's an orphin during the trial of him murdering his parents.

buddy made his choice when he put the keys in the ignition, noone made him drive hammered. he killed 2 and needs to pay for his actions and take ownership of his actions. the only thing I hope is perhaps this lawsuit will make bars more responsible, bars need to be doing their due diligence, and cut people off that are too intoxicated. perhaps that will come about because of this.

The law says you cant serve a drunk though so they are liable.I have friend's that own a tavern here and they are all boning up on the new govt. course they have to take so this doesnt happen to them. The one said she would just go back to Britian if they tried sueing her. They are pretty well responsible for their patrons and I think there was a bar in BC that got dinged years ago because of this.
    Rock creek maybe?

You should see the questions they ask in the workbook on who to serve and who to not serve and if they seem drunk, you then have to get them home.

Soon you will have to blow in a breathalizer before getting served a beverage, that's the only way a bar can be safe from a lawsuit.

It's hard to determine who is drunk. I've had friends who were pissed yet passed the sobriety test easily, and others who will fall asleep after a couple of beers. Then there is also the case of people refusing to serve pregnant patrons. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Holy jebus...is Canada becoming like the US now where everyone sues everyone else, because they take take responsibility for their own actions. I mean really, who drank, who got drunk and then who decided to drive.

For frack sakes people!!! Start taking responsibility for your fracking actions.
