EDMONTON -- An aboriginal band has threatened the very basis of Alberta's oilsands industry by filing a court challenge to the province's system of granting land tenure.
"acidcomplex" said oh for god sakes, anything for a buck eh. First Nation's get your head out of your ass
Did you even read the article? It does not say anything about money. In fact all it says is that the First Nations have the right to be consulted prior to any work taking place on lands that are/were their original territory.
That is very similar to your RM, city council or other government body consulting with you at a public meeting on the possibility of work or construction near where you live.

BS it's all about money and how they can extort it from the government.
They use anything they can to get the attention, then the companies in return pay them to make them go away. There for, it is about the money, otherwise they wouldn't settle for it. Who ever wrote the treaties with the first nations was a retard, What the hell is the definition of "traditional grounds"??? The way I read it, the whole country is... I was working on a pipeline in the summer, the indians from over 100 miles away came and protested us saying we didn't consult them. What? You probably read about it, they set up a teepee in the driveway of the construction yard at White City, just east of Regina.
I'm interested in the legality of the claim, not some inbreed's keyboard mashing. Perhaps we could have some actual learned commentary not some dumb mopes promulgation of their ignorance? Oh wait, that would require knowledge, education and intelligence - that would be coming anytime soon.

Ya but Waschuk didn't have 20% native hire which is a must have in Saskatchewan. On pretty much every line we put through there that has all ways been a pre-condition.
Mind you at the end of the day the answer to the problem was to cut a check.

It's always about money, some indians in Mantioba are suing to get paid for people using airwaves
Spare us the 'consulting' line, it's just another money grab from people who simply don't understand the modern world and the 21st century
Well, that is true. The best way to get the attention of the white man is to stand between him and his money.
You are absolutely right, the 21st century involves looking out for #1 and getting whatever you can whenever you can. That is the way of the white people and we are happy to participate. Sounds like you'd rather set different rules for us.

So the original articel is about money
Once again you have left your credibility at the door. And the way of 'white' people is to earn their money by actualy working for it. How sad indians after decades still havent learned that
"acidcomplex" said glad to see im not alone in my disgust.
