The late comedian George Carlin – famous for those "Seven Words You Can Never Say on TV" – was honoured Monday with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the only award he saw as a legitimate comedy prize.

    Carlin didn't need awards, he just wanted to make people laugh and think, and damn, did he ever. I rarely care when celebrities die, but when he went, man, the world felt heavier. There will never be another one like him.
