All the flights that go to places such as Afghanistan are filled to the brim with combat supplies, spare parts, equipment and mail from families. Because space is so limited, nothing else can be added to the payload, he said.
Sucks, I was there for Xmas last year, no care packages really is depressing, but really given the enviroment as I did with my Kosovo tour in 99/00, over Xmas, you really put it out of your head and get on with the job, No need to get homesick, really the Afghan landscape does not exactly bring on images of Christmas!!
Why can't they charter a cargo plane? The government seems to have no problem flying GG Michaëlle Jean all over the place in challengers and spending money on her to stay 5 star hotels so finding the money to deliver care packages shouldn't be a big deal.
Seems to me someone is thinking more about dollars and cents and forgetting the human element here.
