The Canadian dollar could quickly recover more than half the massive losses it has sustained this month once banks, hedge funds and other big investors no longer have to buy vast quantities of greenbacks and yen to cover short positions in those currencie

    This article explains why our dollar has dropped so significantly so quickly. I was always a little confused considering our economy is doing better then most.

    Both are correct. Everyone is fleeing to the US dollar (and paying back the Kerry trade for the yen). The drop in all things commoddities will hurt the Loonie, as Canada's economy has grown more dependent on commodities. Though to be fair, Canada's long term positioning is better.
