New voting rules blamed for historically low turnout

New voting rules are being blamed in part for the low number of Canadians who went to the polls in Tuesday's election. Only 59.1 per cent of those eligible voted -- possibly the lowest turnout in the country's history.

Saying the news rules are to blame is bullshit.

When i went to vote there was a line-up out the door of people registering to vote and they all had 1 peice of picture ID and 1 peice of mail. ALso there have been numerous people who are a part of this website who live in rural areas and had no problem voting. I am not buying the new rules for this mess!!!

yah, first time voting, never been registered or anything, took me like 10 min, fill out a form, sign, vote, done.

i think it's the realization that vote's don't mean shit and the whole process is a f*cking waste of time and money. We need to get back to the Monarchy if any progress is to be done in this counrty.

To note vote just because you need to produce ID and an address is a croc, problem I see is that these are the same people who bitch the most when goverment poicies affect them negativly. If you don't want to vote then move to some country where people don't have the option cause your no good here!

Rural Canadians had trouble coming up with ID? With all the in-breds out there, one ID would have done for a whole clan.
