the new numbers are suggesting a %60.4 turn out. Not the lowest, but not the greatest either.

Low voter turnout is sad down here too, but what are you going to do? There is only so much you can do to make people care. Eventually it just comes down to individual responsibility.

I think they should give people who vote a extra 1% return on their taxes. Its not enough to cost the government huge sums of money and it is enough to give yourself a little treat for particpating in democracy. Say a 6 pack of beer or what have you...

That's tempting. I do hate taxes, but I'm still hesitant to provide any financial incentive to vote. Hmmm.

Democracy shouldn't be bought. People died for it for crying out loud. It takes so little effort to do yet means so much. I thought this vote was going to have a very high turnout given the emotional turmoil of the run-up.

Did you see that voter turnout was lowest in NFLD? What is going on there?

Agreed - turning it into a cash grab just to get the numbers up is just wrong.

It's very simple. It's called voter apathy. It was a rotten campaign. We had lousy choices in leaders, the worst in Canada's history. Plus we've had how may elections in the past couple few years?...Too damn many.
