The CBC has issued an apology and retraction for posting a controversial online column by freelancer Heather Mallick about Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin earlier this month.

It is a sad day for the CBC indeed. I am glad they did the right thing and apologized, but it stings. I do not like this making the international news at all. I wish the CBC had not gone so far in their words when they apologized.
    Sigh.

The more interesting comment from the ombudsman in this article is this:

“Ombudsman Carlin makes another significant observation in his response to complainants: when it does choose to print opinion, CBCNews.ca displays a very narrow range on its pages.”

Those who have ever looked at CBC.CA cannot help but notice the skewed 'subjects' that make up threads and the frothing at the mouth lefties who post on there.

The CBC is a disgrace and has just descended into the adopted role of an unelected opposition mouthpiece.
As long as my tax money goes to this biased organisation I will continue voice my discontent.

It's a pity I have to watch CBC to get my 'Coronation Street' fix. I no longer watch their newscasts because of the slanted comments that accompany reports.

That's two apologies in one year. The CBC apologies will increase if the Conservatives get a majority.

They should have told the whiners to piss off and stood behind their columnist.

Yea, who posted stuff that was patently unfounded. Good point Rev.
    We should fund partisan lies.

It was an opinion column, Eyebrock. She's paid to have opinions. Speaking of partisan lies though, I noticed your cowardly leader was writing more campaign promises on the fly this morning. Seems the arts cuts thing was hurting him, so he came up with a meaningless pander.

I wish Neil McDonald would get shipped off to a country he has less contempt for. His repulsive sneer when reporting from Washington makes him look so ridiculous I had to stop watching him. Henry Champ did a much better job there.

and how does your taliban jack propose to fund the over $50 Billion in new spending he has promised in this campaign?

interested to hear how the socialist are going to pay for that one!

It wasn't an opinion Rev, it was down right lies, that's why the CBC has had to apologise.

I can't understand why you would support lies? It makes no sense, from which ever side of the political spectrum you come from. Your postings really do not help your credibility at all.

    Horseshit...Mallick's piece was libelous...gutter "journalism".
If spoken, her words would have been slanderous.
Mallick needs to be fired, and ostracized by the publishing industry.
Only a total idiot would write such drivel, and only
a total idiot would defend her.

Speaking of deflecting and spinning EVERY single thread back to the demon Harper...

Mallick is an opinion columnist. Her comments are no worse than what what conservative columnists (and politicians if you include the likes of Harper) have said about non-conservative politicians.

The difference on these lies is that they are tax payer funded lies.
