QUEBEC -A woman who spent 25 years in the Canadian military is suing her former employer for $1.5-million, arguing she suffered years of sexual harassment and discrimination because she was a lesbian.
This is a miss use of words, The Canadian military diddn't give her shit about being a lesbian, just the selective few soldiers who gave her shit. Saying the Canadian Military is giving both the Military a bad name, and every soldier in it.

Back in the early 80's if she was openly gay, they would have teased her quite a bit. I also have no doubt people would have made jokes about her up until the early 90's. What people forget is that it was almost 20 years ago, and as a society, homosexuality was somewhat looked down upon. Especially in the stereotypically 'mans' military of the last century.
If she was truly sexually abused then she should get compensation for it and the offender should be charged, however she is bringing this several years after she has retired. So that muddies the water a bit.
We in no way have the full story yet, but one thing is certain, if what the article has described had happened today the offender would be: charged, possibly with jail time if convicted with assault, and then kicked out of the military. He/She would never be allowed to work with the government again and would be registered as a sex offender.

I also forgot to mention that the military has a special division in the Military Police branch to investigate serious crimes such as sexual assualt, drug crime, theft ect.
