great news, now they just have to get their song back. TSN in my opinion should just sell the song back to CBC and make a cool million for doing nothing.

Nah I think they should keep it, CBC treated the previous owners like shit and they were glad to sell the rights to TSN/CTVMediaCorp

What do you mean treated like shit? That song was used for what 40 years? The royalties would have kept the author quite comfortable.

When the story first came out there as more on the "bad blood" between the owners and CBC. I'll keep looking to see if I can find it again.

I read the story when it came out. I'm just curious as to how the author was treated like shit. I read an article that said she got paid $500 per broadcast. That's $1000 every saturday, and who knows how much during the playoffs. That's not too shabby.

The story in the globe goes into it in more depth. Saying she was treated like shit was a little much...
Although money was important, insiders said the deciding factor in the battle between Ms. Claman and the CBC was emotion – years of wrangling about the song and its value had angered Ms. Claman. “She was hurt,” said Ms. Claman's agent. “She loves the song. It's very close to her heart. It's like her baby.”
So CBC basicly pissed her off and she didnt want to deal with them anymore.
