Storm surge driven by Hurricane Ike breached levees in coastal Louisiana Friday and flooded hundreds of homes in areas along the Gulf of Mexico still recovering from Gustav.
"uwish" said my wife is in Houston as we speak. She was down in Texas on a training course. So far so good. Big hotel.
She said the rain is comming down sideways
Where??
Downtown Houston will get some flooding.
I have been to Galveston 100's of times, lived in Dallas for 16 years. Pasadena, Bayton, South Houston will have flooding. (they forgot to mention high tied comes at the same time as the surge in 2 hours - 12:30AM)
Not to mention the tornados as the cold front moves south and merges with Ike. It will slow the storm, and lots of rain...
I have family in Hunters Creek Village which is a suburb of west Houston.
All good here. TV says we should not be to bad might even get missed. Worse will be in the early PM on sat. High winds is the worry hear rain should not be to bad.
Lifes going ok for me here so no major complaints at the moment. Except for idiots acting like its the end of the world.
Hey I heard on the radio that San Antonio has plenty of room left for evacuees so IF ppl you know need to get out this weekend sounds like S.A. is all ready for more. Not sure how much more Austin can take but we are not full so we are an option also.

Texas Gov. asked people to take a black marker and write their social security on their arm so they can idendify them later.
Anyone who stays behind, I guess this is natures way of natural selection... our population should be a little less stupid after Ike.
