Canada's "aggressive" war in Afghanistan is all about "teaching lessons with weapons" and will leave nothing behind "except the blood we've lost there," the journalist son of late prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau said Thursday

"Trudeau knows the Canadian military firsthand, but not through combat. In the mid-1990s he trained as a reserve officer at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown in New Brunswick and joined the Royal Canadian Hussars in Montreal, one of Canada's oldest army reserve regiments, with the rank of second lieutenant."

A real expert then. Fucking rich kid on a soapbox, hey how about a nice tall glass of STFU

Sorry, gotta' disagree with Trudeau on this one. Afghanistan is legit - history has shown countless times that sometimes peace and order must be achieved through aggression (and I love how the journalist in him skews the operation with subjective terms like "aggressive"). The Taliban was one of recent history's more disgusting and heinous regimes and it requires - as is Darfur, but i'd love to hear his solution for that one - a military intervention to deal with these extremists.

As per usual there's little in the way of solutions from his type, but then, he's lucky, his kind of freedom to dissent wouldn't be tolerated by the very group he's rationalizing

His freedom to dissent isn't much tolerated by the warmongers he's critiquing, either.

Warmongers? Really? Just because the people in uniform think he is a jackass! Maybe your a Jack ass too!! With comments like he would only go to Afghanistan to film Tim Hortons...means that he isnt really interested in the truth....just interested in furthering the Liberal/ NDP agenda.

Well...true, but he's not having acid thrown in his face him as a rebuttal.

The truth is that conservatives have done nothing to give us our freedoms. They have always resisted - often quite brutally - the efforts which have given us what we enjoy today.

Without liberals and other progressives, we would be living in the dark ages, much like the Taliban which those warmongering conservative morons so resemble.

    Fair enough.

I shudder to think of him moving farther into politics, based on his last name alone.

The real crime here is that Trudeau is being paid by the taxpayer (the CBC) as he makes those unacceptable comments, but hey, what should we expect from somebody who lauds Fidel Castro?

steaker, how can you even defend this kind of crap?

Trudeau knows jack about what he is talking about, all these people who get on their soap box and say " Killing Afghans will not win this war," are forgetting one major fact. Most of the taliban fighters are from Pakistan, the ones that are from Afghanistan are forced into it, either by the economy (which the Taliban tries to keep a strangle hold on) or by having the local Tabliban Mula rolling into a villiage and saying " Right Men 15-40 come here, if you dont your fathers will be killed by sundown."

come on, thats not a fair analogy at all. Did the liberals instate the Human rights tribunal? Ezra Levant is fighting for freedom of speech on his own dime because of it.

In essence he's fighting for the "right" to foment hate.

    Give it another shot.

its not hate, he displayed cartoons on his website. either way, he has a right to say it. im still learning about the case but the human rights tribunal side steps the process of law, its completely one-sided. the plaintiff never has to pay a dime. and it allows a government bureacrat the power to decide if something is able to be published or not based on what they perceive the publishers intentions are.

theres a youtube video of ezra meeting with the human rights tribunal woman, you should check it out it might change your mind on it.
