OTTAWA - Canada's NATO partners are being asked to ride shotgun on rented Russian-built transport helicopters and newly purchased Chinooks once the air force takes possession of them in Afghanistan
Can we get some Apaches? I know those probably aren't the best escort helicopters...but they are very very sleek. Too bad the Americans postponed the Commache design
the RAH-66 Comanche project was actually scrapped for monetary reasons, costs more to make it than to just upgrade existing attack helos. If Canada did get some they would most likely be either AH-1Z Super Cobras or AH-64 Apaches but I would be surprised if we announced an attack helicopter contract unforutnately even though it's something we sorely need for ground forces in the 21st centuary.

I thought it was just mothballed, not completely scrapped...that's too bad, because they truly looked like effective helicopters. I'm sure in 30-40 years they will be the next gen attack helicopter.
