Thanks ridenrain for the good laugh in the morning. This is interesting though, people taking this as the PM picking one form of Islam over another, I think this was more choosing a moderate form of Islam to broadcast the message that he likes moderate Muslims over the crazy jackasses who spread hate in their Saudi supported Mosques.

I also find it interesting that this douchebag Mohamed Elmasry is even quoted after what he did to Macleans.

"One of the key messages conveyed to the community across Canada is loyalty to the country. We take it very seriously...because the teaching of the holy prophet Mohammed is that loyalty to your homeland is part of faith, and your faith is not complete unless you truly are loyal to the country you live in," he said. "A Muslim cannot be a hypocrite: You can't take benefits from this country and not be loyal subjects of it."

This guy could teach the Khadr's a thing or two.

Doing a speach like this is like walking through a Minefield. I think Harper said too much, but as a Politician he was bound to say too mmuch.

Earlier this week, Islamic Supreme Council of Canada founder Imam Sayed Soharwardy told the Canadian Press he does not consider the Ahmadis to be Muslim.

So the Muslims don't like them. They must be doing something right.

This is Canada Bart, any politician who talks about a serious matters (Hot for Jihad Johnny) will land him in hot water.

Especially if it disturbs the multiculural fabric and mosaic of of Canada, its considered a desired Canadian trait to pretend serious problems doesnt exist.

Stick our heads in the sand and let someone else deal with it later and critize how they dealt with it, Its the Canadian way !

I don't see what the big deal is, Compare it to Praising the Catholic or Anglican Church but not the hardline cultist offshoots of them. The whole problem with religious groups to begin with is that even in the same groups there are infinate ways for individuals to interpret their teachings, that's why we end up with radicals, extremists and cults. Not just islam's problem but all organized religions have their different groups and cults. If enough people believe something you can make it a religion.(see story on Jedi religion)

Loyalty to your homeland is not the same as loyalty to the country you immagrated too. I too often hear Lebanise, and Indians and Pakistanis talk with inflated pride about their homeland, Well why move here if there is so great.

Which is why we should adopt the same stance as Austrailia.
Come here if you want, be part of our country, practice your religion, but don't expect us to change the way we live to support your ideals, and if you don't like it, get out.

I thought it was damned funny that moderate and resonable people would be disowned by their lunatic brothers. I also knew that I had to highlite this because this won't get MSM play because it dosen't match the agenda.
These are reasonable, respectable people that I'm proud to have in Canada. It should be obvious who we want to stay and who should go.
