What is Canada coming to when parents can't discipline their own children. This has got to be the dumbest court case ever. Why are the courts even wasting their time on such a case?

Totally agree, but this typifies the nanny state at its best!

what did people expect from 70 years of LIEberal governments who appoint very liberal judges?

This should be no surprise, you get what you voted for. I wish we could only have 70 years of Conservative governments to undo some of the damage.

Just another reason why we have the 'revolving' justice system where repeat offenders are more common than having ketchup with fries.

Even with massive public outcry has the youth justice act been changed yet? and it took a minority CPC government to FINALLY get tough on crime and put some teeth into the laws. BUT only after THREATENING to call a general election as the liberal were holding it up in the upper chamber.

It really makes you wonder WTF is wrong with the Liberals? Politics aside, they are just out of touch with reality never mind the Canadian voter.

This is sickening. How dare the judge decide they know how to best raise our kids. Is this arrogant judge going to raise this 12 year old girl? No? Then keep your opinions to yourself. Your courtroom does not extend into our homes.

    *Edit*

So if her dad stops her from going on the trip, will he go to jail?

More stupid shit that's a waste of taxpayers money, a judge over ruled a parents decision in grounding his child from a school trip because of her behaviour....WTF !!!!

If was the father I'd be pissed.

The judge was appointed by the Conservatives (as pointed out on the radio today) - care to explain what the Liberals have to do with this?

Can you imagine the father/daughter relationship after this? The court shouldn't have let this gone this far in the first place...

does everything come down to the liberals? Parliament passes bills and the senate makes them law.... but you go for the typical redneck tory ideal of no-one has rights only that despot harper..this looks good on that idiot

That's the exact same reaction I had once I realized this wasn't a joke. How this even made it to court is beyond me.

LOL so to chastise him for blaming the Liberals you spout your typical anti Conservative ignorant opinion. Well done.

It's a sad day when a 12 year old has more rights than their parents. No wonder youth crimes are on the rise.

QBall couldn't have said it better.

If it was my child, I'd go against the courts decision.

Aw, you beat me to it.
OTTAWA, June 5, 2007 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, , Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Suzanne Tessier, Coordinator and Professor of the Police Foundation Program at La Cité Collégiale in Ottawa, is appointed a Puisne Judge of the Superior Court for the Districts of Hull, Labelle and Pontiac, in the Province of Quebec. She replaces Madam Justice J. Trudel ( Hull), who was appointed to the Federal Court of Appeal.

Back to the issue at hand
WTF? I can't imagine what kind of judge even thinks this is a matter for the courts.
What kind of lawyer thinks this is a matter for the courts?
