Trevor Linden will announce his retirement at a news conference in Vancouver on Wednesday.
Linden hangs up his skates after 18 seasons in the NHL, mostly with the Vancouver Canucks, where he was a fan favourite.
He was a real class act. I don't listen to Dan Russel on 'NW much, but I was listening last night and him and a calller were going on about "Well Linden never reallly did anything after the 94 cup run."
Vancouver loved Linden not just because he was a great player, but because he had class--as evidenced by his behaviour on-ice and all the off-ice stuff he did for kids in need. And he had heart--he never scored as much as Bure, but the bigger teh game, the better Linden played, culminating in his two goals in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals versus teh Rangers.
I'm looking forward to seeing number 16 hanging from the rafters.
"Regina" said I'm just glad they got rid of those yellow sweaters........but even he made them look pretty good.
Are you gay for Trevor, Regina? I'm just kidding--I'm gay for Trevor, too. Ha ha ha.
Seriously, those were the worst sweaters in NHL history. The Islanders had a stinker for a while too. Interesting tidbit...this was almost the Bluies alternate jersey before getting vetoed by Mike Keenan. Too bad--the Blues would have taken the record away from us for ugliest jersey.
Well, it's a sad day for Nucks fans, but we did know it was coming. I hope they offer him a job in the organization. In charge of player development would be a good one for Trevor.

That's a rather busy jersey, but I think it looks real cool.
